HALO 74 (Gemtech HALO/AK74 Suppressor Adapter)

With the popularity of the Russian designed AK74 and AKS74U (aka Krinkov) in the civilian and military market, Vltor has developed an adapter to fit the popular Gemtech 5.56 “HALO” sound suppressor to the AK74 series of weapons. The HALO 74 adapter will only mount to weapons that feature a 24mm x 1.5mm threaded muzzle (gas block and/or sight tower assembly). Unfortunately, this will exclude the Romanian, Yugoslavian (Serbian) or Polish series of Kalashnikov weapons that might feature a 5.45 or 5.56mm caliber. Basically, the HALO 74 adapter is adaptable to weapons made in Com-Bloc countries like Russia, Bulgaria, East Germany etc.

Installation of the HALO 74 Adapter made simple:

Installation note: The installation of the HALO 74 Adapter should only be performed by a qualified gunsmith and/or certified armorer.

1. Insure the weapon is unloaded and chamber clear of obstructions. Next, check to make sure the weapon is cool to the touch, insuring the user won’t get burned. Finally, check  that all components are thoroughly clean and are free from carbon build up, especially in the weapon’s muzzle region, HALO 74 adapter and the HALO sound suppressor.
2. Remove the existing muzzle-break/flash-hider, and then thread the HALO 74 adapter nut onto the weapon until the adapter nut is flush to the sight tower assembly. Take note; the compensator retaining plunger will need to be depressed to insure full installation of the threaded adapter. The retaining plunger insures that the muzzle device doesn’t loosen while in use.
3. The second component to the adapter is the HALO 74 spacer. This module fits into the HALO suppressor, normally where the weapon’s muzzle device would be placed.
4. With the HALO 74 spacer installed, thread the HALO suppressor and spacer, into the already mounted HALO 74 adapter nut.
5. Slowly thread the device onto the weapon until the weapon is reasonably hand-tight.
